“Not all men”. The internet erupts in vitriolic defense.

Hate comments and abuses flood with spiteful vengeance.

“Would you say this about the men in your life — your father, brother or husband,” they retaliate.

Their fragile, inflated egos, they can barely contain.

“Congratulations, it is a daughter,” the nurse declares happily.

Crest fall, the new father turns away his gaze glumly.

‘A boon or a burden’, he thinks to himself.

How will his daughter survive in this patriarchal society, all by herself?

Girls are warned about other men, by their own kin.

Hushed into silence; retreated into oblivion.

Bone -chilling and heart wrenching; when will atrocities against women end?

But in retort, all you have to say –Not all men?

When a man is accused, women jump in solidarity and show alliance.

But when the reverse happens; men seal their lips into silence.

‘Terror has no religion, but rape has a caste?’ they mock in riposte.

As the civility of law and order, continues to crush and combust.

Violence is ingrained in us; in our actions, manners and our speech.

Another day, another woman violated; lessons of patriarchy the society continues to preach.

‘Not all men’, we know and believe in you after all.

Roses are red and violets are blue. Let us smash this hate, me and you
